Identification: Millipedes range in colors from black to brown, reddish orange and sometimes with mottled patterns.
Venom: Non-Venomous. Interesting Fact: some species of millipedes give off a foul smelling fluid through openings along the sides of the body. The fluid can be toxic to small animals such as small family pets and can cause small blisters on humans.
Habitat: Millipedes are found in areas with high moisture such as under rocks, piles of trash, piles of leaves, grass clippings and yard debris and mulch beds. Millipedes do not typically survive indoors for more than a few days unless the indoor environment provides high moisture and a consistent food supply.
